How Pineberry’s pandemic roots grew into a movement to combat isolation
When vaccines arrived in 2021 but kids remained vulnerable, immunocompromised families faced impossible choices. That’s when our founder Sammi created Pineberry’s outdoor forest preschool—a masked, nature-based sanctuary where high-risk children could finally play safely. For some, it was their first-ever playdate after years of lockdown isolation.
Our Caregiver & Me program became a lifeline for parents of neurodivergent kids, offering:
✓ Safe socialization for developmentally diverse children
✓ Parent solidarity circles to combat caregiver loneliness
✓ Lasting friendships that still thrive today
This is the power of inclusive community care—and it started with one mom’s vision to help families like hers.
The Magic of Adventure Club
Last summer, Pineberry’s Adventure Club brought families together to explore Oregon State Parks through hiking, swimming, and nature art. But the real magic? What happened between the activities:
✅ Parents formed lasting bonds over shared struggles and wins
✅ Kids created friendships that extended beyond the trails
✅ A group chat kept the momentum alive with park meetup plans and encouragement
For isolated caregivers, these small moments added up to something big: feeling less alone in the messy, beautiful work of raising kids. That’s when we realized: Pineberry’s mission is to turn these spontaneous connections into intentional community.
